Issues

There is no shortage of issues to address at the city level.  I believe the four most important are:

  1. Supporting Public Safety

  2. Enhancing Streets, Curbs, and Sidewalks

  3. Ensuring Transparency & Accountability

  4. Addressing Your Concerns

Public Safety

I support use of the previous budget allocation plus revenues from Prop P to provide:

  • Above market compensation to patrol officers to recruit/retain talent.

  • Maximum LAGERS retirement to retain talent.

  • New police fleet (in progress with lease program).

  • New substation in west Parkville to reduce response times for emergencies.

  • e-ticketing to enhance officer safety and improve accuracy.

  • Flock to deter crime and rapidly identify suspects.

  • Enhanced technology in patrol cars.

Streets/Curbs/Sidewalks

I support use of new technology and Prop U to support improvement to streets, curbs, and sidewalks/trails:

1. Newer technology like bonded ultrathin overlays to extend pavement life.

2. Digitally mapping the condition of all street conditions and posting those on the city website.

3. Digitally mapping the condition of all sidewalks and posting those on the city website.

4. Working with downtown merchants to resolve traffic congestion at the Highway 9 triangle.

5. Fully funding replacement of cracked curbs.

6. Improve safety on Bell Road.

Transparency

I support continued enhancements to transparency and accountability:

1. From paperclips to police cars, you should know where every dollar of your taxpayer money goes. Parkville publishes this monthly.

2. Third-party audits help to ensure all proper fiscal controls are in place.

3. Residents should be able to see all development proposals from application to final occupancy, those are now available online.

4. Livestreaming of ALL meetings, most are and can be found here. I continue to advocate that ALL meetings of elected and appointed bodies should be livestreamed.

5. Review Missouri State Auditor reports of other cities to identify ways Parkville can enhance transparency and operational excellence right here at home.

6. Develop a City Charter to rebalance power in favor of the people of Parkville. Include petition, referendum, and recall provisions to hold elected officials accountable.
